For the Spiced Meat and Cheese Mixture
Don't let the meat and onions burn while browning, or you'll be cursed with a bitter-tasting bounty! A golden, even brown is the treasure you seek
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound hot pork sausage
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 16 ounces Velveeta cheese, cut into cubes
- 1 to taste cayenne pepper
- 1 to taste red pepper flakes
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef, hot pork sausage, and finely diced onion over medium heat.
- Cook until the meats are fully cooked and the onion is softened, then drain off any excess grease.
- Reduce the heat to low and add the cubed Velveeta cheese to the skillet. Stir constantly until the cheese is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Season with cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes to your liking.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and allow the mixture to cool completely. This is a critical step; if you proceed too soon, the mixture will be too runny to stay on the bread.
